These terms govern your use of Luminaria ("the service"), available at luminaria.uk. By using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Luminaria is a web application that allows you to browse, search and manage reading highlights exported from e-reader devices including Kobo and KOReader. It also provides optional paid features including automatic sync, PDF export and Notion export.
The service is provided by an individual based in the United Kingdom operating under the Luminaria name.
To use sync features you register with your email address and receive a personal token. You are responsible for keeping your token secure. Do not share it with others — anyone with your token can access and overwrite your highlights.
You must provide a real email address. We use it only to send your token and subscription-related emails.

Your highlights are your own reading notes. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to store and export them.
Paid features (auto-sync on WiFi, PDF export, Notion export) require an active subscription at £2.99 per month, billed monthly.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you agree to Stripe's terms of service. We do not store your payment details.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the subscription management page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial periods.
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable notice to registered users by email.
Your highlights belong to you. We do not claim ownership over content you store on Luminaria. We do not read, share or use your highlights for any purpose other than returning them to you.
You grant us a limited licence to store and transmit your highlights solely for the purpose of providing the service.
We aim to keep Luminaria available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may temporarily suspend the service for maintenance or updates. We will endeavour to provide advance notice of planned downtime.
In the event that the service is permanently discontinued, we will provide at least 30 days notice by email and allow you to export your data.
The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of data, loss of profits or indirect damages arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Luminaria integrates with third-party services including Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (infrastructure), Notion (optional export) and Resend (email). Use of these services is subject to their own terms and policies.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the service if you breach these terms. You may stop using the service at any time. On termination, your data will be retained for 30 days before deletion, unless you request immediate deletion.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
